Back-to-Back National Champions! Nittany Lions Down Stanford, 3-0, to Take the Title

No. 1 Penn State put the cap on an impressive and record-breaking year by capturing its second-straight National Championship Saturday night in Omaha. The Nittany Lions, a perfect 38-0 on the season, defeated Stanford 3-0 en route to the program's third national championship. Penn State finished the hard-fought match as the victor by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-23. Penn State junior outside hitter Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) was named Most Outstanding Player, while junior setter Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.) and senior outside hitter Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio) were named to the All-Tournament team.

Nicole Fawcett Named 2008 AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball National Player of the Year

No. 1 Penn State Women's Volleyball Dominates All-Big Ten Awards

Following its sixth consecutive outright conference title, the top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team (32-0, 20-0) added seven more names into its record books. Senior outside hitter Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio) was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, the fourth consecutive year the league's top player has been a Nittany Lion. Also garnering recognition, Penn State head coach Russ Rose was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year, by both the coaches and the media, for the 10th time in his career.
