UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Nittany Lion women's volleyball players Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.), Christa Harmotto (Aliquippa, Pa.) and Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.), who helped the U.S. Women to a 5-0 start in the Pan American Cup, guided Team USA to a bronze medal. It was the first medal for the U.S. women at the Pan Am Cup since 2004.

On June 25, Team USA suffered its first loss of the tournament in a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16) setback to the Dominican Republic in the semifinals. Glass tallied four points on four blocks and had 48 running sets as the starting setting. Hodge and Harmotto each recorded four points in the match.

The U.S. women faced Cuba in the bronze medal match and won, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17). With the win, Team USA earned a spot on the podium and qualified for the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix. Hodge led the U.S. women's with 16 points on 14 kills, one block and one ace, while Glass posted two kills and 12 running sets.

The next tournament for the U.S. women is the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix Aug. 6-29, but the team will play in two Red vs. Blue exhibition matches in July.

Glass, Harmotto and Hodge were four-year members of the Penn State women's volleyball team under head coach Russ Rose. Harmotto aided the Nittany Lions in back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2007 and 2008, while Hodge and Glass closed out their Nittany Lion careers guiding PSU to an unprecedented third straight national title in 2009.
