UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Nittany Lion women's tennis coach Dawna Prevette announced today the signing of Fernanda Perrotta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Carmen Sandor (Toronto, Canada) to the 2010 recruiting class. The pair will begin their Nittany Lion careers in the fall.
"Fernanda is going to have a solid impact on our team," Prevette said. "She has experience with high pressure situations and she welcomes a challenge. Carmen is a tenacious fighter on the court. She is hungry to improve and she has a great outlook on the game. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with both of these ladies during her collegiate career."
Perrotta is a transfer from Arkansas and will have two years of eligibility remaining at Penn State. At the University of Arkansas, she tallied a 5-2 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in dual matches last season. In doubles play, Perrotta was 4-1 in the 2009-10 season with the Razorbacks. Sandor finished sixth in singles at the 2008 Ontario Indoor Junior Provincial U18 Championships and was the doubles runner-up with partner Victoria Sekely in both the U16 and U18 2007 Ontario Junior Provincial Championships. Sandor claimed the 2008 Roman Cup U18 title and repeated the feat again in 2009 by claiming the U18 Roman Cup at the Ontario Junior Open.
