COLUMBUS, Ohio; April 8, 2006 ¨C Freshman Lauren Holzberg (Easton, Conn.) scored the only point for the Lions in their 6-1 loss to No. 68 Ohio State. Holzberg defeated Ohio State's Kristin Messmer at the No. 5 spot, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).

"Holzberg has done a great job for us all year," said head coach Buffy Baker. "She pulled out the match-breaker for us once the match was decided."

At the No. 1 singles spot, Penn State's Sasha Abraham (Hyberadad, India) fell to Ohio State's Caitlin O'Keefe, 5-7, 3-6. Andreea Niculescu (Montreal, Quebec) dropped to Sonia Ruzimovsky at the No. 2 spot, 3-6, 2-6.

Penn State couldn't pick up any doubles wins either. Katelyn BeVard (McLean, Va.) and Jenny Shular (Peachtree City, Ga.) lost a tough match at the No. 2 doubles spot, 9-8 (7-5).

"Overall, as a team, we didn't compete as well as we've competed previously in the year," said Baker. "We have to get back and find that level that I know we can compete at and execute it on game day."

The Lions move to 7-9 and will take on Iowa at home this Friday, April 14, beginning at 5 p.m.
