Women¡¯s Tennis Back On The Road




University Park, Pa. April 7, 2006 ¡ªThe Penn State women¡¯s tennis team (7-8, 1-4 Big Ten) travels to Columbus, Ohio to face the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sat. April 8 at 11 a.m. Weather permitting, the match will be held at the Stickney Tennis Center.

Penn State currently holds a 16-19 all-time series record with Ohio State. In the spring of ¡¯05, the Lions topped the Buckeyes at University Park, Pa, 4-3.

The Buckeyes are 12-7 on the season with an even 2-2 record in the Big Ten. Junior Kristin Messmer leads Ohio State in play with 13 dual-match singles wins. Messmer paired with Ciara Finucane combine for the leading doubles team with an 11-6 record for the spring.

The Lions look to continue strong doubles play as Katelyn BeVard and Jenny Shular have teamed at the No. 2 spot with a 5-3 record.

Penn State will then return for its final pair of home matches on Fri. April 14 and Sun. April 16. The Lions will face Big Ten competitors Iowa and Minnesota. For more information, visit www.gopsusports.com.
