PHILADELPHIA - The Nittany Lions played in four matches on the final day of competition but were not able to bring home a victory. Chelsea Utting only competed in one match due to injury, while Sarah Henderson and Jacqueline Zuhse each played a singles and doubles match.
Chelsea Utting looked to continue her run through the consolation bracket on the final day of play in Philadelphia, taking on Dartmouth's Akiko Okuda in the quarterfinals. After losing the first set 6-5, Utting retired from competition due to injury, ending her hopes of bringing home the back draw crown.
In other singles action, Henderson took on Sarah O'Neil, losing 6-0, 6-2. Zuhse was also defeated in her match against Young of Cornell, losing a close match, 6-3, 7-5. Sarah and Jacqueline also competed together in a doubles match where they were ousted by Maryland's duo of Sarah Gealar and Vroni Van Berlo, 8-5.
Chelsea Utting and Petra Januskova will be in action next Saturday at the ITA All-American Championships in California, while the rest of the team will wait to play in the Tribe Invitational on Friday, Oct. 5 in Williamsburg, Va.
