Penn State Women Lead Nittany Lion Invitational After Day Two

State College, Pa. - The Penn State women's swimming and diving team extended its lead over Cornell, UMBC and St. Bonaventure on the second day of the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Nittany Lions currently have amassed 853.5 points in the three day competition followed by Cornell (509), UMBC (492.5) and St. Bonaventure (450). Day two saw Penn State take victories in every event and the three-meter diving competition. In the first event of the finals, PSU finished 1-2 in the 200 medley relay. The Lions also finished 1-2 in the 400 IM, with Jenna Lopano winning the event with a 4:27.53 followed by Alecia Kornacki's 4:32.08. In the 100 butterfly, Piper Chamberlin (57.16) took the race with Corrie Clark (57.36) and Lindsay Fraschilla (58.39) in second and third, respectively.

In the 200 free, Christina Stocki (1:53.19) finished first and Melissa Wilson (1:55.44) took second. Lindsay Fraschilla was also victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.96). The 100 backstroke, won by Katie Hostetler (58.68), also featured Nittany Lions finishing third through sixth. In the final swimming event of the night, the PSU 800 free relay team was victorious with a time of 7:43.70. In the three-meter diving, Jaime Jaax took first place followed by teammates Ame Bascomb and Becky Crane.
