Penn State's Silvestri Qualifies for U.S. Diving Senior National Finals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (June 16, 2003) - Freshman diver Lisa Silvestri (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) finished 2nd on both the 1- and 3-meter boards at the Zone A competition held at the University of Pittsburgh, qualifying her for the Senior National finals to be held June 24-30th in Indianapolis, Ind.

This is the second trip for Silvestri to the Senior Nationals. She previously competed in the 2000 finals.

Also competing for Penn State were junior Maggie O'Brien (Minnetonka, Minn.) and sophomore Corey Pagnotta (Westport, Conn.). O'Brien finished 9th and 11th and Pagnotta placed 16th and 12th on the 1- and 3-meter boards, respectively.

"Our ladies put in some very good performances especially for where we are at in our training," said coach Craig Brown. "The meet was a very good experience as we gear up for the fall. I'm excited for Lisa and her opportunity to compete against the best divers in the nation."
