Jessica Barnes: A senior, Barnes will be making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships. She qualified in the 500 free, 200 free, as part of the 800 freestyle relay team, and the 200 back. At Big Ten¡¯s, Barnes scored points in all of those four events, highlighted by a fourth place finish in the 500 free and a third place finish as part of the 800 free relay team. Barnes also swam in the same four events at last year¡¯s NCAA meet and earned honorable mention All-American status after being on the 16th place 800 free relay team.
Nikki Collins: Collins will be making her third career appearance at the NCAA Championships. The senior was an All-American last year after finishing sixth in the 1650 free. The school record holder in both the 1000 free and 1650 free, Collins finished fourth in the 1650 free at Big Ten Championships and finished in the top eight in the 1650 free at Big Ten¡¯s in each of her four years. Collins also picked up points in the 500 free, 200 free and on the 800 free relay team. She swam an NCAA ¡®A¡¯ time in the 1650 free this year and in addition to that event, will also swim in the 500 free, 200 free and on the 800 free relay team at NCAAs.
Molly Crispell: Crispell will make her third straight appearance at NCAAs. The junior relay specialist once again qualified as part of a relay team, the 800 free, and will also swim in the 200 free and 500 free. At Big Ten¡¯s last month, Crispell scored in the 200 free and on the 200 and 800 free and 400 medley relay teams. Last year, she swam in the 500 free, 200 free and on the 400 and 800 free and 400 medley relay teams at the NCAA meet.
Karie Haglund: Haglund qualified for the NCAA Championships with an NCAA ¡®A¡¯ time in the 200 butterfly. The sophomore will also swim in the 200 IM and 400 IM. She swam in each of those three events as well as the 200 and 400 medley relay events at Big Ten Championships, scoring points in each event. Haglund will be making her second straight appearance at NCAAs. She earned honorable mention All-American status last year with a 15th place finish in the 200 fly while also swimming in both IMs as well.
Claire Hawley: The senior distance swimmer, Hawley, returns to the NCAA Championships after a one-year absence last year when she redshirted. She will be making her second appearance at the NCAA meet and was a 2005 honorable mention All-American in the 1650 free. Hawley will be competing in the 500 free and 1650 free as well as the 400 IM this year. At Big Ten¡¯s last month, she finished in the top eight in both the 500 and 1650 free and also scored in the 400 IM.
Kailey Morris: Morris makes her first career appearance at NCAAs in her first chance as the freshman qualified in the 500 free, 400 IM and 200 butterfly. Morris came very close to an ¡®A¡¯ time in the 200 fly but still qualified with ¡®B¡¯ times in all three events. At Big Ten¡¯s Morris scored points in those same three events.
Kelly Nelson: A very versatile swimmer who had a team-high 10 NCAA cuts this year (nine ¡®B¡¯ and one ¡®A¡¯), Nelson will make her second career appearance at NCAAs. The sophomore will swim in the 500 free, 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 fly and on the 800 free relay team at NCAAs. Nelson had an NCAA ¡®A¡¯ cut in the 200 fly this year. Last year, she swam in four of the same five events she¡¯ll be competing in this year. She¡¯ll be adding the 500 free to her program this year. She earned honorable mention All-American status in two events last year: the 400 IM and 200 fly. At Big Ten¡¯s last month, she scored points in the 200 free, 200 fly, 200 IM and on the 800 free and 200 and 400 medley relay teams.
Kaitlin O'Brien: An All-American last year after a sixth place finish in the 400 IM as a freshman, O¡¯Brien returns to the NCAA Championships for the second straight year after swimming an NCAA ¡®A¡¯ cut in the 400 IM this year. She will also swim the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. She swam in the same three events at last year¡¯s NCAAs and also picked up points in all three events at this year¡¯s Big Ten¡¯s last month. She is a two-time Big Ten champion in the 400 IM, repeating this year and a two-time first team All-Big Ten selection.
Daphne Skelos: The freshman will make her first appearance at NCAAs and will swim in three events, the 100 and 200 backstrokes and the 200 IM. She scored in all three events at the Big Ten Championships last month.
Lyndsey Smith: Smith just missed an NCAA ¡®A¡¯ time in the 100 breaststroke but still qualified for her first NCAA Championships in the 100 breaststroke. The freshman won the 100 breast championship at Big Ten¡¯s and was named first team All-Big Ten. She also scored in the 200 breast at Big Ten¡¯s last month.
