Penn State Women's Swimming And Diving Tied For First At Big Tens
West Lafayette, Ind., February 19, 2003 ¨C After the first day of competition, the #14 ranked Penn State Women¡¯s Swimming and Diving team is tied for first at the Big Ten Championships being held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Nittany Lions started off on the right foot with a win in the first event of the competition. The quartet of Sarah Haupt (Carlisle, Pa.), Courtney Stanchock (Bloomsburg, Pa.), Amberle Biedermann (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and Katie Hostetler (Chambersburg, Pa.) took home the crown in the 200 Freestyle Medley Relay with a time of 1:39.41. In the second and final event of the evening, the Nittany Lions beat their best time of the season in the 800 Freestyle Relay with a fourth place win and a time of 7:17.01. Junior Sally Anderson (Somerset, N.J.) led the foursome, following Biedermann, Deirdre Dlugonski (Washington, Pa.), and Meredith Holman (Inman, S.C.)
