Swimming and Diving Teams Host Two Dual Meets This Weekend, Including Senior Day on Saturday
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 18, 2007 - After a month and a half off from competition, the men's and women's swimming teams return to action this weekend with a pair of home dual meets, the final home meets of the year for the Nittany Lions. Fresh off a two-week training trip to Naples, Fla., the Penn State women will take on Ohio State in a dual meet on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in what will be the SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Dual Meet of the Week. Both the men and women will then face Rutgers on Saturday beginning at noon in what will also be Senior Day. Penn State last competed on December 2 when both the men and women swept West Chester. While the swimmers have not competed since that first Saturday in December, the divers were in action over winter break as they competed at the Georgia Diving Invite. The diving teams will rejoin the swimming teams for this weekend. The Nittany Lion women are ranked No. 15 in the country entering this weekend in the CSCAA Dual Meet poll. Ohio State is not ranked while Rutgers will come into McCoy Natatorium ranked No. 22. The Nittany Lion men are receiving votes in the CSCAA poll while Rutgers is unranked. Prior to Saturday's meet at McCoy, 10 seniors will be honored as they will be swimming in their final home meet of their career. The 10 seniors are: Rachel Ahrenhold, Mike Alderman, Jessica Barnes, Genie Cheng, Nikki Collins, Claire Hawley, Dan Kaiserian, Erin Morris, Megan Palera and Kimberlee Peifer.
