Career honors Summer 2007: Molly swam in all four summers events that Penn State swimmers competed in, including the Grand Prix series Eric Namesnik Grand Prix and Charlotte Ultraswim, the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships and the U.S. Nationals. Her best individual performances were in the 200 freestyle, as she finished 14th at the Charlotte Ultraswim and fourth at the Mid-Atlantic Championships, but her best work was on the relay teams. At the Charlotte Ultraswim, she was on the third place 400 free and medley relays teams. At U.S. Nationals, she swam on the 19th place 400 and 800 free relay teams and the 14th place 400 medley relay team. At Mid-Atlantic Championships, she combined with Michelle Myers, Caitlin Meehan and Kelly Nelson to set a meet record in winning the 400 medley relay and then combined with Myers, Nelson and Jessica Barnes to set a meet record in the 800 free relay. 2006-07: Molly made her second career appearance at the NCAA Championships last year, swimming the 200 and 500 freestyle as well as on the 800 freestyle relay team that finished 14th, garnering her honorable mention All-American status for the second straight season. At Big Ten Championships, Crispell scored in the 200 free by finishing 13th and on the 200 (7th place) and 800 free (3rd place) and 400 medley (4th place) relay teams. On the year, she had three first place finishes in individual events and was a part of seven first place relay teams. She also had five second place finishes and seven third place finishes. On the year, she posted NCAA `B' qualifying times in the 200 and 500 free and as part of every relay team except for the 200 medley. She also swam the second-fastest times on the team in both the 100 and 200 freestyles.
2005-06: After having an excellent rookie season, Molly followed that up with an outstanding season as a sophomore, as she was named second team All-Big Ten and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career. She was a part of nine relay teams that had first place finishes during the season and also won three individual events. At the Big Ten Championships, she was a member of the 400 medley relay team that finished third and earned an NCAA provisional time as well as the 800 freestyle relay team that placed second with an NCAA "A" qualifying time. She also placed seventh in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle at Big Ten's. At the NCAA Championships, she competed in the 500 free, 200 free, 400 medley relay, 800 free relay and 400 free relay. She earned honorable mention All-American honors by helping the 800 free relay team to a 16th place finish at NCAAs. She was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection. 2004-05: Crispell shined during her first year at Penn State. She won her first career event against West Chester, placing first in the 200 freestyle (1:51.43). She came in third against West Virginia University in the 50 freestyle (25.14). Not only did she shine during the season, but she also exceeded first year expectations at the Big Ten Championships. Crispell's individual best times were seen at the championships. In the 100 freestyle, she posted a time of 51.59; 200 freestyle, 1:49.72; and 500 freestyle, 4:50.31. High School: A native of State College, Molly competed in the Pennsylvania High School State Championships two straight years. In 2003, she finished first twice, in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:30:58, and in the 200 freestyle with 1:50:10. She also placed third in the 100 free coming in at 51:86. In 2004, Molly finished first or second in two more events at the PIAA Championships. She won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:30:70 and took second in the 200 freestyle, coming in at 1:51:34. Molly was also a 2004 Academic All-American and a high school Faculty Scholar. She also made honor roll all four years (2000-2004). Personal: Molly Crispell was born on September 12, 1986. Her parents are Maggie and Loren Crispell of Boalsburg, and she has an older brother, Loren, 29, who is the marketing manager for Penn State's basketball programs.
