Diaz Named SB Director of Operations

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Head coach Amanda Lehotak and the Penn State softball team announced the hiring of Christina Diaz as the first-ever Director of Softball Operations Tuesday, June 27.

“I would like to thank the Penn State administration for their commitment to creating an environment that is optimal for success with the hiring of our first director of operations,” stated Lehotak.

As the director of operation, Diaz will be responsible for overseeing the budget, coordinating and executing travel plans, coordinating community service activities, organizing recruit visits, arranging team practice schedule, coordinating class schedules and assisting with video operations.

“I am very excited to be adding Christina Diaz to our staff, said Lehotak. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in many areas of college athletics.”

Diaz moves into the director of operations position after working at Penn State as a Research & Evaluation Associate where she identified, selected and implemented evidence-based programs through the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness since 2014.  She also assisted in the Navy Youth Sports and Fitness, Yellow Ribbon, Reintegration Program Thrive!, 5210 Healthy Military Children and 5210 Healthy Children, while leading the fall 2017 implementation of the 5210 health messaging campaign in the Keystone Central School District.

Along with her job as a research & evaluation associate, Diaz has been the head coach of the varsity volleyball team at Bellefonte Area School District since 2014. Diaz also spent one year working as a student-athlete mentor at the Morgan Center where she mentored five student-athletes focusing on time management, study skills, communication with professors and discussing upcoming/past assignments, quizzes and exams.



Prior to her time at Penn State, Diaz was a compliance coordinator for one year at the University of Texas at San Antonio and was the compliance coordinator at Jacksonville University from 2012-13 as well as serving as an adjunct professor from 2011-13 and the interim head volleyball coach/assistant volleyball coach from 2010-12.

Diaz is a 2009 graduate of the University of Florida where she played volleyball from 2005-09 and was a SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree, a Gator Spirit Award winner and a Bright Future’s Academic Scholarship recipient.
