UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --Penn State hosts the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) for its respective softball and baseball championships on Friday, June 15. Nittany Lion Softball Park will play host to four PIAA softball championships and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will see four PIAA baseball championships.
The PIAA softball portion of the day begins at 10:00 a.m. with the A Final between Southern Columbia and Fannett-Metal, followed by the AAA Final of Big Spring and Valley View at 12:30 p.m. The day's events wrap up with a 3:00 p.m. contest between Neshannock and Warrior Run in the AA Final preceding the AAAA Final between District 1 rivals Bishop Shanahan and Central Bucks South at 5:30 p.m.
Basball action opens at 10:30 a.m. between Pine Grove and Riverside in the AA championship. The AAAA Final will start at 1:00 p.m. between La Salle College High and Council Rock South, while the A Final is slated for 3:30 p.m. with Bishop McCort and Montgomery squaring off. The day's action is rounded out by Lampeter-Strasburg and West York in the AAA Final at 6:00 p.m.
All four baseball games will be broadcast live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN), while the softball contests will be aired in tape delay fashion on PCN. Tickets will be available one hour prior to the day's first game at the stadium box offices. Parking is available next to both facilities.
This is the second straight year Penn State has hosted both championship events. For more information, visit www.piaa.org.
