Softball Doubleheader with Akron Rained Out
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., April 25, 2007¡ªThe Penn State softball doubleheader with Akron scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled due to pouring rain. This season has been a tough one for the Lions with eight cancelled games. The cancellations started with a doubleheader against Minnesota being rained out on April 1. Despite making the trek to Ann Arbor and East Lansing, two games against Michigan and a doubleheader with Michigan State were called because of below freezing temperatures. The Akron rain outs are the seventh and eighth called games of the season. Penn State will return to Nittany Lion Field this weekend to continue Big Ten action. On Friday, April 27, the Lions will face off with Indiana at 6:00 p.m. The series will continue at noon on Saturday, April 28. A doubleheader with Purdue on Sunday, April 29 at noon marks the final home games of the 2007 season. Prior to the contest with the Boilermakers, the four seniors on the team will be recognized for all their accomplishments. The senior class members are Kelsey Francisco (State College, Pa.), Kari Lucas (Centre Hall, Pa.), Jen Williams (Stillwater, Okla.) and Meghan Wolfer (Northampton, Pa.).
