Penn State softball to offer several promotions in 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State softball team has announced several exciting promotional events for the 2014 home slate, which begins on Friday as the Nittany Lions host Purdue in the Big Ten and home opener. The Blue and White host 18 games on 13 different dates in 2014.
Fans will have a chance to receive giveaways during every game with promos such as the Dominos Double Play Inning, PSU Bookstore Home Run Inning, Uncle Chen's Challenge and McDonald's Strike Out the Side contests. Create-A-Sign stations, which will be located at the entrance to the park, will be set up for every Saturday and Sunday contest. There will also be an autograph sessions with the Penn State softball players and coaches following all Sunday games.
Friday, March 21 at 6:00 p.m. vs. PURDUE
Penn State marketing will be handing out Penn State softball rally towels, while supplies last. Fans in attendance will also receive a 2014 Penn State softball poster.
Saturday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. vs. PURDUE (DH) Fans in attendance will receive 2014 Penn State softball posters and will have the opportunity to get their posters signed by the PSU players and coaches in a post-game autograph session.
Saturday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m. vs. MICHIGAN
The second game of the three-game series vs. the Wolverines is Alumni Day and Little League Day. Fans in attendance will receive miniature stress relief bats, while supplies last. Kids in attendance will have the opportunity to runs the bases immediately following the game.
Sunday, March 20 at 1 p.m. vs. MICHIGAN
The final game vs. Michigan will be Greek Day at Nittany Lion Softball Park. The fraternity or sorority with the highest attendance will receive a donation from Coach Lehotak to the charity of its choice. A Home Run Derby for the Greeks will take place immediately following the game. Fans in attendance will receive 2014 softball posters and a post-game autograph session will be held.
Wednesday, April 2 at 5 p.m. vs. SAINT FRANCIS (PA) [DH]
The Nittany Lions host the Red Flash in a doubleheader on Dollar Dog Night, where fans can purchase hot dogs at the concession stand for the low cost of $1.
Friday, April 18 at 6 p.m. vs. WISCONSIN
PSU opens up the series vs. the Badgers on Season Ticket Holder Day. To thank its season ticket holders, Penn State softball is giving its dedicated fans a PSU softball pint glass.
Saturday, April 19 at Noon vs. WISCONSIN (DH)
The Lions host Wisconsin in a doubleheader for the second and third games of the series on Bark in the Park Day. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the ballpark to enjoy the game*. The Lions will also be celebrating Easter weekend with a post-game Easter Egg Hunt and Easter candy giveaway. An autograph session will be held after the second game as well.
*Proof of vaccination and tags required for all dogs
Wednesday, April 30 at 5 p.m. vs. PITT (DH)
Penn State's twin bill vs. in-state rival Pitt is on Glory Day. A part of the new "We Are" student rewards program, Glory Day will be an opportunity for students to earn three points at one event.
Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. vs. Illinois
The Blue and White open the series vs. the Illini on Military Appreciation Day. The Nittany Lions will be giving away camouflage silicone bracelets, while supplies last.
Saturday, May 3 at 3 p.m. vs. Illinois
Penn State will honor its three seniors at the penultimate home game of the 2014 campaign. The second game vs. the Fighting Illini will also be the Pitch for Pink game. Fans in attendance will receive Senior Class trading cards and pink silicone bracelets, while supplies last. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the ballpark in honor of the fight against breast cancer.
Sunday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. vs. Illinois
The final home contest of the season will also be THON Day. The Nittany Lions will be holding a hat drive, which benefits THON. The final autograph session of the season will take place immediately following the game.
All tickets are general admission for $6 per game. Penn State students with ID can attend free of charge and groups of 15 or more can buy tickets for $3 per person.
The season ticket price has been lowered from $45 to $20 for 2014, which includes general admission seating for all 18 games for the price of less than four contests. Fans can purchase by calling 1-800-NITTANY or by visiting the Athletic Ticket Office Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Parking for all Penn State softball events is free. Fans will be permitted to park to the Orange B lots located just west and south of the ballpark. Should the two Orange B lots become full; fans will also be permitted to park in Lot 82, which is adjacent to the parking lot at Nittany Lion Softball Park.
