COLLEGE STATION, Texas; February 29, 2004- The Nittany Lion softball team (1-9) met its ninth ranked team in 10 games Sunday, losing to No. 17 Oregon (13-4), 2-0, to end their weekend at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational II with a 1-4 record.

Oregon scored two runs in the opening three innings and retired Penn State¡¯s first 12-straight batters in order. The Lions¡¯ Katie Stauffer (Manassas, Va.) reached second on an error to begin the fifth inning, but was stranded there to end the inning.

Redshirt-junior Missy Beseres (Golden Valley, Minn.) threw seven strikeouts in the loss.
