Penn State Receives $500,000 Gift From William and Lee Beard for New Softball Facility
Penn State has received a pledge of $500,000 from William and Lee Beard as the lead gift for a new facility for the Nittany Lion softball team. In recognition of this gift, the field in the new softball facility will be known as Beard Field. Construction is expected to begin next spring, with a targeted completion date by the start of the 2011 season. Read More >>

Softball Caps Successful Fall Season With Tournament Sweep
The Penn State softball team had a successful Fall season, as the Nittany Lions went through their schedule nearly unblemished at 5-1. Penn State split with Bucknell on Sept. 25 and won all four of its games in this past weekend's tournament at Nittany Lion Field against Virginia Tech, Lock Haven, Iona and Saint Francis (Pa.). Nittany Lions Host Fall Tournament Saturday and Sunday
The Penn State softball team will be hosting the Fall Tournament, as 10 games will be played in the next two days at Nittany Lion Field. The first game takes place on Saturday when Virginia Tech and Saint Francis (Pa.) take the field at 10:00 a.m. The Nittany Lions play two games each day: at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
