Oct. 27, 2008

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After two solid performances against Illinois and Purdue this weekend, senior defender Jessie Davis has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Davis piloted the Penn State defense to a pair of conference wins over the weekend, securing the team at least a share of its 11th straight Big Ten Championship. The Nittany Lions won both matchups against Purdue and Illinois by a shutout score of 2-0. Davis played every minute in both contests as Penn State now ranks second in shutouts in the Big Ten. The Fairfax, Va., native picks up her first career weekly award.

The Nittany Lions will return to Jeffrey Field Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. for their final Big Ten regular season match up with Ohio State. Davis as well as Kaleen Adami, Zoe Bouchelle and Allie Daus will be honored in the Senior Day celebration.
