Penn State Women's Lacrosse To Close 2003 Regular Season

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., April 30 2003 - The Penn State Women's lacrosse team will close its 2003 regular season at home this weekend against Delaware. The game will be held Saturday May 3rd at noon, the first of a lacrosse double header at Jeffrey Field. The men's team will follow at 3:00. Three Nittany Lion seniors will be honored before the game

The Nittany Lions, who are ranked 12th this week in the IWLCA poll, will look to finish the season over .500. They are currently 8-8 and finished 5-1 in conference play. Last weekend, in their final conference matchups of the season, Penn State defeated Ohio University 16-5 and lost a heartbreaker to Ohio State 10-9. They will look to finish the season on a high note against Delaware, who they defeated last year 13-9.

Penn State seniors Colleen O'Hara, Kristen Wood and Katie Pace will be honored before the game. O'Hara is the team's leading scorer, with 31 goals and 23 assists on the season. She was also the leading scorer for the 2002 season with 46 goals and 23 assists. She has started every game this season. Wood has started every game this season and has recorded three goals and one assist. A team captain, she provides leadership both on and off the field. Pace has started all but one game this season. She has picked up 25 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers.
