Shari Maslin Honored as American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 26, 2006 - Senior co-captain Shari Maslin (New City, N.Y.) has been named American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week for her standout performances in Penn State's dominating road wins over league rivals Ohio State and Ohio last weekend.
In their victory over Ohio State on Fri., April 21 in Columbus, Maslin helped the Nittany Lions reach the 19 goal mark for the third time this season, contributing four scores. She also notched two assists, four draw controls, and one caused turnover.
Maslin also played a key role in Penn State's 14-5 rout of Ohio in Athens on Sun., April 23, tallying two goals, two ground balls, two draw controls, and one caused turnover.
A four-year starter, Maslin has developed into an elite offensive weapon culminating in this season, the finest of her outstanding career. Through 15 games, she leads the team in goals (36), points (47), and game-winning goals (3). For her career, Maslin has totaled 95 goals and 50 assists.
Maslin will play her final regular season game in a Nittany Lion uniform on Sat., April 29 when No. 20 Penn State hosts ALC foe No. 9 Johns Hopkins at Jeffrey Field in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
