Penn State Women¡¯s Lacrosse To Host No. 3 Georgetown

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., April 20, 2004 - The 19th-ranked Penn State women¡¯s lacrosse team will play host to third-ranked Georgetown on Wednesday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. at Jeffrey Field. The Nittany Lions enter the contest with a 3-9 record while the Hoyas boast an overall mark of 9-2.

Georgetown leads Penn State, 3-2, in a series that began in 1999. The last meeting was a 19-9 Georgetown win on April 23, 2003. The last time the teams faced off in University Park, the Hoyas prevailed, 18-9, on April 24, 2002. Penn State¡¯s last win was a 16-13 victory on April 29, 2000.

The last time out, Penn State dropped a heart-breaker to Northwestern, 13-11. Sophomore Lori Havrilla (Devon, Pa.), junior Emily Chambers (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) and senior Katie Hartman (Annapolis, Md.) all led the Lions with two goals apiece while seniors Janique Craig (Doylestown, Pa.), Katie Jeschke (Ellicott City, Md.), Jamie Donahue (Oreland, Pa.), junior Kristen Burke (Severna Park, Md.) and freshman Karen Long (Ellicott City, Md.) all recorded one goal each.

Penn State has dropped four games this season by one goal. The Nittany Lions lost to Virginia, 10-9 ( March 12), William & Mary in overtime, 12-11 (March 14), Maryland, 12-11 (March 26), and Loyola, 10-9 (April 3). The only one-goal game that has gone in Penn State¡¯s favor was a 9-8 win over Pennsylvania in double overtime (April 7).
