Penn State Women¡¯s Lacrosse Drops 13-4 Contest to North Carolina
Chapel Hill, N.C., March 28, 2004 -- The Penn State women¡¯s lacrosse team dropped its contest to North Carolina, 13-4, Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Nittany Lions fall to 2-7 for the season while the Tar Heels improve to 6-3. Senior Jamie Donahue (Oreland, Pa.), junior Emily Chambers (Valley Cottage, N.Y.), sophomore Lori Havrilla (Devon, Pa.) and freshman Lindsay Dutch (Ellicott City, Md.) all scored goals for the Nittany Lions with Dutch adding an assist. Junior goalkeeper Lee Tortorelli (Havertown, Pa.) recorded 18 saves in the game. North Carolina scored off of the opening draw to take the quick lead less than 20 seconds into the contest. The Tar Heels remained in control, tallying the first five goals of the game before marks by Donahue, Havrilla and Dutch closed the gap to 5-3. Two more North Carolina goals put the host school up 7-3 going into the half. In the second half, Chambers scored just 1:57 into the stanza to pull the Nittany Lions to with three at 7-4, but North Carolina scored the last six goals of the game to pull away late in the contest.
