No. 13 Penn State Women's Lacrosse Defeats No. 12 James Madison 11-10

HARRISONBURG, Va., March 8 - Penn State sophomore Katie Jeschke (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) scored four goals and assisted on the game-winner with 26 seconds remaining to lift the 13th-ranked Nittany Lions (1-1) to an 11-10 win over 12th-ranked James Madison (0-2) in women's lacrosse Friday afternoon.

In a game that had four lead changes and six ties, JMU led 10-9 after junior Lisa Staedt (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) scored back-to-back goals in a span of 3:46. Staedt's score at 6:57 tied the game at 9-9, and her goal with 3:11 left put the Dukes ahead.

Sophomore Jamie Donahue (Oreland, Pa./Upper Dublin) netted the tying goal with 1:47 to go, then senior Molly Ford (Trenton, N.J./West Windsor) took a feed from Jeschke and sent the game-winner into the goal.

JMU held a 33-27 advantage on shots on goal. Freshman Lee Tortorelli (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made 14 saves in goal for the Nittany Lions, while JMU freshman Amy Altig (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) stopped 13 shots.

It was the second one-goal game of the season for both teams. Penn State dropped a 7-6 decision to Vanderbilt in its March 2 season-opening game, and JMU lost 10-9 in four overtimes to Penn on March 2.
