CHA Release

After tallying six points over the first month of the season, freshman Natalie Heising (Maple Grove, Minn.) was tabbed the College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Month for Sept./Oct., as announced by the conference office Wednesday. Heising is the first Nittany Lion to win the CHA Rookie of the Month award since Shannon Yoxheimer received the honor for the month of November in 2012.

Over the first 10 games of the season, Heising tallied six points on three goals and three assists. Among freshmen in the CHA, she ranks first in points (six), is tied for first in goals (three), is tied for second in assists (three), is first in shots (32), and is fifth in faceoff wins (49).

Heading into this weekend’s series against Mercyhurst, Heising is riding a four-game point streak (3-2—5). Her four-game point streak included a three-game goal streak from Oct. 20-28.

The Nittany Lions close out their four-game homestand Nov. 3-4 against Mercyhurst. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. each day at the Pegula Ice Arena.
