Women's Hockey Announces Promotional Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State women's hockey team announced its promotional schedule for the upcoming regular season Tuesday afternoon. The Nittany Lions open the 2015-16 regular season this Thursday, as they host the top-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers for a two-game series.

Fans are reminded that bags may be subject to search upon entrance to the Pegula Ice Arena.

The Family 4-Pack offer will be available for select home games, featuring four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for just $30. The package can be purchased for one game each home series: Against Minnesota on Oct. 2, Union on Oct. 18, UConn on Oct. 25, Mercyhurst on Nov. 7, Robert Morris on Jan. 23, RIT on Jan. 30, Syracuse on Feb. 5 and Lindenwood on Feb. 13.

In the season-opening series against the No. 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers, the first 100 students each night will receive a free t-shirt.

Against Union on Oct. 18, the Nittany Lions will don Thon jerseys for the THON game. The specialty jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with the proceeds benefitting THON and the Four Diamonds Fund. THON families and volunteers will be recognized throughout the game. Following the game against the Dutchwomen, the Nittany Lions are hosting a post-game skate with the team for fans.

A week later, the Nittany Lions continue their homestand at the Pegula Ice Arena, as they host the UConn Huskies for a two-game series (Oct. 24-25, 7 p.m. & 2 p.m.). Sunday afternoon is the Penn State Faculty/Staff Appreciation game. All Penn State faculty/staff with a valid PSU ID can purchase $3 tickets.

On Nov. 7, Penn State is scheduled to host Mercyhurst at 2 p.m. The game will be Scout Day and following the game fans will be able to skate with the team. Fans can read more about Scout Day below.

After winter break, the Nittany Lions return to the Pegula Ice Arena on Jan. 22-23, against Robert Morris. Scout Day also returns on the 23rd and the Nittany Lions will host another post-game skate.

On Feb. 5-6, Penn State hosts the Syracuse Orange. Friday night's game is Penn State Faculty/Staff Appreciation night and Saturday afternoon is the Skate for the Cure game. Fans that wear pink on Saturday will receive free admission and they can also skate with the team following conclusion of Saturday's game. Last season, 1,042 fans attended the Skate for the Cure game against Syracuse.

The final home games of the 2015-16 regular season for the Nittany Lions are scheduled for Feb. 12-13, against Lindenwood. Penn State will honor its 12 seniors throughout the weekend.

Kids Crafts will be available on the concourse each game. The crafts will vary each series.

Scout Day: Both boy and girl scout troops are offered special ticketing packages. For $5/person they receive game tickets and specialty patches. Troops will also be offered exclusive opportunities based on number of members brought to the game.

Group ticketing opportunities are still available. Fans can purchase $3 tickets for groups of 20 or more. All groups will receive a women's hockey drawstring backpack. Youth hockey teams (kids 12 & under) have an opportunity to play on the ice during the 2nd intermission of the game. Availability is on first-come-first-serve basis. The Nittany Lions embark on their third season at Pegula Ice Arena with a 16-game regular season slate. Purchases can be made over the phone (1-800-NITTANY, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) or by visiting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.). A Nittany Lion Club donation is not required for season tickets and parking is complimentary to all games.
