UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; December 12, 2013 - It was a night to display a variety of talents in the sport of gymnastics inside Rec Hall on Thursday evening (Dec. 12), as the Penn State men's and women's gymnastics programs hosted their annual Blue-White Showcase. The Blue squad claimed the victory over the White squad by a score of 294.9-292.7.

The Blue-White Showcase was judged by a quartet of celebrity judges from various other Penn State athletic programs with a simplified scoring system. The judges were sophomore cornerback Jordan Lucas (football), goaltender Matt Skoff (men's hockey), outfielder Alyssa Sovereign (softball) and forward/center Tori Waldner (women's basketball).

The Blue team got things off to a quick start, as Matt Felleman and Trevor Howard each posted scores of 9.9 on the floor exercise and Lindsay Musgrove kicked off the vault by sticking her landing and earning a perfect 10.0. Howard was the 2013 NCAA Champion on the floor exercise last season and stuck his landing to close out his run on the floor.

The White squad watched as Sidney Sanabria-Robles and Krystal Welsh each earned stellar scores of 10.0 and 9.8, respectively, on the opening event.

In the second rotation, only Adrian Evans of the White squad claimed a perfect 10.0, doing so with a stellar pommel horse routine. Evans was a 2013 All-American on the event and edged out Blue squad members Néstor Rodriguez and Preston Gall for top honors on the event. The women competed on the beam, with the White team's Sammie Musto boasting a score of 9.9 to top the charts.

Only the men's still rings took place during the third rotation, with the trio of Evans, Ingvar Jochumsson and Tristan Duverglas all earning 9.9 marks. Jochumsson was the top scorer for the Blue team, as Evans and Duverglas helped the White squad close the gap a little bit with their marks.

A quartet of 10.0 scores highlighted the women's floor exercise in the fourth rotation. Musgrove and Lexi Carroll posted the perfect score for the Blue team and Sanabria-Robles and Welsh did so for the White squad. Howard was the top scorer on the parallel bars, notching a 9.9 mark for the Blue team, but Rodriguez and Wasef Burbar both put in stellar routines, as well.

Again, the men's team took the stage to compete on the vault, where the White squad's Duverglas displayed his talent on the event with a perfect 10.0 score. Howard scored a 9.9 and Felleman posted a 9.85 to lead the Blue team.

Welsh finished the night with a great showing on the uneven bars for the White squad, earning the perfect 10.0 score to cap the women's performances. Randi Lau also notched a 10.0 showing to lead the Blue team. Howard for the Blue and Alexis Torres for the White both claimed 10.0 showings on the high bar, with 2013 All-American Matt Felleman and school record holder Burbar each earning a 9.9 on the event.
