UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; November 13, 2013 - Lauren Li, Chanen Raygoza, Oni Timothy and Briannah Tsang have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Penn State University and participate in women's gymnastics starting in 2014-15, head coach Jeff Thompson announced today.
"It's so exciting to be adding this level of talent to our program," said Thompson. "All four of these student-athletes are tremendous all-around competitors, as well as exceptional young women, and we are thrilled that they have chosen Penn State."
Li, who trains at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Plano, Texas, is coached by Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and was the 2013 USA Gymnastics Level 10 Region 3 all-around and uneven bars champion, as well as a third place finisher on vault. Li went on to compete in the USA Junior Olympic National Championships where she finished eighth on balance beam and 13th in the all-around.
"Lauren is a beautiful gymnast who possesses both grace and power," said Thompson. "She is tremendous on all four events and I know our crowd is going to fall in love with her gymnastics. Her training at WOGA has prepared her to be a great all-arounder at Penn State."
Li is a senior at Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas and is the daughter of Forest and Norma Li.
