Four Penn State Women¡¯s Gymnasts Selected All-Big Ten
EAST LANSING Mi.; March 24, 2006 ¨CFour Penn State women¡¯s gymnasts have been selected All-Big Ten, it was announced during the Big Ten Championships banquet on Friday, March 24 in East Lansing, Mich. Seniors Lisa Clark (Philadelphia, Pa.), Meredith Hoover (Dublin, Ohio) and Jennifer Orlando (Herndon, Va.) were all selected First Team All-Big Ten while sophomore Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) was named Second Team All-Big Ten. It is the second First Team selection for both Clark and Hoover and the first career honor for Orlando and Satterfield. Clark has competed in eight of nine meets of the season, including averaging a 9.843 on the vault and a 9.818 on the floor. She was named the Ann Carr Award winner as the most inspirational gymnast of the meet on Jan. 14 against Alabama and Arizona for her two top-three finishes on the vault. Hoover was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 25 after finishing first in the all-around at Ohio State with a season-high 39.325. She has finished in the top four in the all-around six times this year, including two first-place finishes. Hoover also took home the Ann Carr Award on on Jan. 21 and recorded a first-place and career-hgh 9.975 on the beam at Ohio State on Feb. 25. Orlando has competed in the all-around in seven of nine meets, finishing in the top five in all seven meets, including a career-best 39.275 at Ohio State on Feb. 25. She earned the first Ann Carr Award of her career on Feb. 10 against Nebraska, Rutgers & Yale, aided in part by her then-career-best 9.925 on vault. Satterfield has competed in every meet on vault and floor for the Nittany Lions, averaging a 9.733 on vault and 9.822 on floor. She has three times reached her career high on vault and twice posted her career best on floor, winning the event three times.
