COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 21, 2004- The 22nd-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team and 31st-ranked Ohio State both posted identical scores of 195.950 Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.

The Nittany Lions recorded team scores of 49.250 on the vault, a season-high 48.875 on the bars, a 48.725 on the beam and a 49.100 on the floor to total their season-high score of 195.950. The Buckeyes scored a 48.825 on the vault, a 49.025 on the bars, a 49.000 on the beam and a 49.100 on the floor.

Sophomore Meredith Hoover (Dublin, Ohio) placed second in the all-around with a career-high score of 39.075 while junior Lisa Clark (Philadelphia, Pa.) placed fourth with a 37.950.

Hoover and freshman Gena Shingle (Langhorne, Pa.) opened up competition on the vault, posting a 9.775 and a 9.850, respectively, before freshman Ashley Mehrer (Richmond, Va.) notched a career-high 9.750. After a season-high 9.875 from junior Kate Stopper (Reinholds, Pa.), sophomore Jennifer Orlando (Herndon, Va.) and Clark closed out the rotation, posting scores of 9.850 and 9.900, both of which were career highs. Clark's 9.900 also earned her first-place on the event for the evening.

On the bars, freshman Corissa Pirkl (West Islip, N.Y.) began with a 9.700 and Orlando recorded a career-high 9.800. Hoover and sophomore Michelle Ilg (Colonia, N.J.) followed with a 9.675 and a career-high and first-place 9.900, respectively, before junior C¨¦cile Allen (State College, Pa.) notched a 9.800. Clark finished up with a 8.550.

Shingle scored a 9.750 on the beam and Mehrer followed with a 9.125. Clark and freshman Stephanie Sullivan (Gaithersburg, Md.) posted scores of 9.650 and 9.775, respectively. Stopper notched a third-place 9.800 and Hoover rounded out the rotation with a 9.750.

Mehrer scored a 9.775 to begin competition on the floor and Sullivan followed, posting a 9.725. Hoover's 9.875 was quickly followed by the same score from Stopper, both of whom tied for second in the event. Clark notched a 9.850 before Orlando's 9.250 closed out the event.

Penn State remains on the road, traveling to intra-state rival Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
