Penn State To Host Nittany Lion Invitational
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team hosts the 25th Annual Nittany Lion Invitational at the PSU Blue Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 15. Sixteen squads from across the nation will compete in the 54-hole event. Teams tee off the par-72, 5,921-yard course for 18 holes of action at 9 a.m. each day. Slated to compete in this weekend's event are: Appalachian State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Hartford, James Madison, Longwood, Maryland, Monmouth, North Carolina- Greensboro, Ohio, Penn State, Radford, Rutgers, St. Francis, and William & Mary. Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational has been played 24 times since the tournament first began in 1974. Penn State has won the title 14 times, including the first six outings. Ohio State, Longwood, and Methodist College join Penn State as repeat winners. Last fall No. 19 Oregon (885) captured the team title from the 17-team field, followed by Penn State (888), Ohio and Louisville (902), and James Madison (914). The medalist was Oregon's Pam Sowden, who shot a 210.
