Penn State Women's Golf Finishes 16th At Mercedes-Benz Championship
KNOXVILLE, TENN. (Oct. 10, 2004) - Junior Amber Weinerth (Auburn, N.Y.) shot a third round score of 77 on Sunday as she finishes 16th overall to lead the Penn State women's golf team to a 16th place finish with a team score of 944 at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship in Knoxville, Tenn. Ohio State won the event with a three-round total of 874, Tulane and Tennessee tied for second (881), Kent State was fourth (887) and Lousiana State took fifth (898). Junior Lauren Lundy (Wayne, Pa.) finished 55th with a 80-79-75-234, sophomore Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ontario) was 81st with 84-74-84-242, junior Katrin Wolfe (Johnstown, Pa.) took 88th with 83-84-80-247 and sophomore Maggie Lester (Oswego, N.Y.) finished 93rd with 84-86-82-252. Weinerth finished 10-over-par for the tournament after shooting 74-72-77-223. Penn State will be back in action Oct. 29-31 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
