Back to Back 302s Put Lions in Seventh
Urbana, Ill.- For the second day, the Penn State women's golf team has posted a team score of 302 at The Lady Northern Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill. This has put them in seventh place overall, 23 strokes back from the group leader, Michigan. Michigan retained its lead from day one, now with a combined score of 581. In second is Kent State with a 590, followed by Northwestern and host-school Illinois, who are both just one stroke behind them. Taking individual honors after 36 holes is Michigan's Le Anna Wicko, who fired a 1-under 71 on the day to stand at 144. The Wolverines also hold the tie for second at 145, delivered by Misia Lemanski and Courtney Reno. Nittany Lion senior Meghan Mull (Naperville, Ill.) went for par, 72 (E), on day two to move her up in the standings, now tied for 20th with a 149. But still atop the Lions is Penn State junior Katie Futcher (The Woodlands, Texas). The day after Futcher shot a record-breaking career-low 68, she put in a 80 (+8) to stand tied at 12th with a 148 overall. The Lady Northern Invite concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes of play.
