Women's Golf Unveils 2013-2014 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team has unveiled its 2013-2014 schedule, featuring a duo of familiar tournaments such as the Cougar Classic and the PSU's annual Nittany Lion Invitational. The Nittany Lions are slated to play in 10 tournaments over the course of the season, including six in the fall and four in the spring.
For the third consecutive season, Penn State will open its season competing in the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston Sept. 8-10. From there, the Nittany Lions travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to defend their 2012 first-place finish in the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate Sept. 20-22, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
Penn state then plays host to its annual headline event, the Nittany Lion Invitational, which takes place Sept. 27-29 at the Penn State Golf Courses. Last season, PSU took home the title in the tournament, and will look to continue its success at home for a second straight year.
Then it's back on the road, as the Lions travel to Lady Pirate Intercollegiate follows the Nittany Lion Invitational, as the golfers will travel down to Greenville, North Carolina from Oct. 7-8 to compete in the Pirate Intercollegiate. The Nittany Lions finished conclude the fall portion of the schedule in the Hoosier Fall Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. for the Hoosier Fall Invitational.
Penn State returns to action beginning in Parish, Florida for the Central District Invitational, hosted by Michigan State on Feb. 17-18. The Gator Invitational is next up next for the Nittany Lions, as they head to Gainesville, Florida on Mar. 14-16.
From there, Penn State will head north for Charleston, South Carolina to face off in the Briar's Creek Invitational, which takes place March 24-25. Penn State wraps up the regular season with a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Bryan Park Invitational,, which is hosted by Wake Forest and North Carolina March 28-30. Then it's off to French Lick, Indiana for the Big Ten Championship, which will be held April 25-27.
Last season, Penn State won two tournaments including the Mercedes Benz Invitational along with the Nittany Lion Invitational. Penn State also recorded four top-five performances, finishing second at the Yale Intercollegiate, fifth at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, third at the Pinehurst Challenge, and fourth at the Big Ten Championships. The Nittany Lions are returning senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) and and junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa., who will look to lead Penn State to even more victories this season.
