Katie Futcher Makes Cut at U.S. Women's Open
CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. (June 24, 2005) - Former Penn State standout golfer Katie Futcher shot a 5-over-par 76 on Friday to become one of 63 golfers to make the final cut at the 2005 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship at the Cherry Hills Country Club. Futcher, a two-time All-American at Penn State from 2000-03, is tied for 42nd place with a two-round total of 73-76-149. Nicole Perrot leads the event with a 70-70-140, good for a two stroke lead. The field at the U.S. Women's Open was cut to the Top 60 golfers, plus any ties after the first 36 holes. All golfers within 10 strokes of the leader also advance.
