STATE COLLEGE, Pa., May 19, 2003 - Senior Katie Futcher (The Woodlands, Texas) will represent the Penn State women's golf team at the NCAA Championships this week. The competition will be held Tuesday-Friday, May 20-23 at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.

After shooting an opening round 75 at the NCAA East Regional earlier this month, Futcher delivered superb consecutive rounds of three-under par 68 to shoot a two-under 211, tying Meaghan Francella of North Carolina for third place. Futcher and Furman's Brandi Jackson, the top individual with a 205, advanced to the NCAA Championships.

Futcher is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and is currently ranked No. 29 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. She has been the Nittany Lions' scoring leader all four years during her brilliant career.
