Women's Golf Finishes Big Ten Tournament in Tenth Place




EAST LANSING, Mich.; April 29, 2007 - After finishing day two of the Big Ten Tournament in ninth place, the Nittany Lions fell to tenth place in the third and final day of the competition. With a four-round score of 123-over 1275, the women's golf team finished ahead of only Minnesota. Wisconsin finished in ninth place with a score of 1272.

In the fourth round, senior Maggie Lester (Oswego, N.Y.) once again led the Nittany Lions with a round score of three-over 75 and a total score of 314. Only two strokes behind and with a total score of 316, senior Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ontario) finished in a tied 28th place. Paik led the Nittany Lions going into the final round of the tournament.

Michigan State finished the Big Ten Tournament in first place after leading for the entire competition. The team finished with a final score of 1188. Purdue finished in second place with a score of 1201. Rachel Meilke of Michigan State finished in first place individually with an impressive four-round score of 284.

Juniors Christin Pacacha (Williamsport, Pa.) and Emily Pavesich (Glen Arm, Md.) both finished the tournament with scores of 327. Freshman Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) and junior Megan Padua (Lafayette, Calif.) also participated in the tournament.
