Women's Golf in 9th After Three Rounds at Big Tens
Minneapolis, Minn., April 28, 2001- The Penn State women's golf team stands in 9th place after three rounds of play completed Saturday at the Big Ten Championship, held at The University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Nittany Lions shot a team score of 331 on the day to give them a 964 (+100) team total thus far. Michigan State tops the Big Ten participants by seven strokes at 911 (+47) after three rounds. Following in second is Ohio State with a 918 (+54) and tied for third with 921 total (+57) are Northwestern and the host, The University of Minnesota. Michigan State also holds the number one individual spot. Michigan State's Allison Fouch shot a 76 on the day and has a 224 (+8) total to rank first. Three players from Ohio State follow; one at second (+9) and two tied for third (+12). Also tied for third are players from Indiana and Minnesota. The best ranking Nittany Lion is senior Jamie McClain (Coshocton, Ohio) who shot a 79 (+7) on the day to stand at 238 (+22) to be tied for 28th place.
