Women's Golf Takes 11th Place at Big Tens

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team finished in 11th place at the 2009 Big Ten Championships. The tournament was hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.

Junior Lindsay Cullen (Allen, Texas) finished in a tie for 20th place with a final score off 320. Sophomore Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) was close behind with a score 324, tied for 36th place. Sophomore Victoria Arena took 53rd place and had a score of 333. Freshman Emily Riddle (St. Mary's, Pa.) shot a four-round score of 338 with junior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) right behind with a score of 339. Sophomore Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) rounded out the team with a score of 347, finishing in 65th place.

Malcolmson was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for Penn State. One winner was selected from each Big Ten school to receive the award.

Purdue took the first place finish with a final score of 1209. Michigan State took second place and Ohio State took third with scores of 1246 and 1255, respectively.
