COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 23, 2004) - Sophomore Amber Weinerth (Auburn, N.Y.) fired a two-round score of 78-75-153 to lead the Penn State women's golf team to a 10th-place start at 313-319-632 at the 2004 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships being held on the Scarlet Course on the campus of Ohio State.

The Buckeyes lead the event with 301-299-600, Indiana is second with 308-297-605, Wisconsin is third (306-305-611), Purdue is fourth (305-310-615) and Michigan rounds out the Top 5 with 312-305-617.

Northwestern (313-305-618) is sixth, Michigan State (304-317-621) is seventh, Iowa (311-312-623) is eighth, Illinois (312-313-625) is ninth and Minnesota (327-317-644) is 11th.

The third round will be played beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Following Weinerth, who is tied for 14th place, is fellow sophomore Katrin Wolfe (Johnstown, Pa.) with 78-80-158, good for 29th. Junior Nicole Love (Greensburg, Pa.), who is competing in her first career event, is 44th with 75-87-162, freshman Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ontario) is 50th with 82-82-164, freshman Maggie Lester (Oswego, N.Y.) is 54th with 84-82-166 and sophomore captain Lauren Lundy (Wayne, Pa.) is 62nd with 85-84-169.
