Penn State Women's Golf Team Finishes Fifth at Bonnie Hoover Invitational




HARRISONBURG, Va. (April 11, 2004) - Sophomores Amber Weinerth (Auburn, N.Y.) and Katrin Wolfe (Johnstown, Pa.) had outstanding tournaments to lead the Penn State women's golf team to a fifth place finish with 303-314-314-931 at the Bonnie Hoover Invitational Sunday in Harrisonburg, Va.

Weinerth shot a final round score of 76 to finish third with a 76-71-76-223 at the Par-72, 6,046-yard layout at the Lakeview Golf Course. Wolfe shot a 72-78-74-224 to take fourth place for the Nittany Lions.

James Madison won the tournament with 289-302-303-894, Maryland was second (301-308-306-915), Georgetown took third (307-305-306-918), Princeton was fourth (299-306-315-920) and Ohio tied Penn State in fifth with 302-315-314-931.

Also for Penn State, senior Susan Oliver (Latrobe, Pa.) shot 75-86-82-243 to finish in 56th. Freshman Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ontario) was 62nd with 84-79-82-245 and freshman Christina Kocinski (Mequon, Wisc.) took 78th with 80-87-85-252.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action Apr. 23-25 at the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
