Nittany Lions Finish William and Mary Invitational in Eighth Place

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.; March 25, 2007 - The women's golf team finished the William and Mary Invitational in eighth place with a final score of 66-over 642. The team fell from its sixth place finish in the first round, but still had an impressive show against 17 other schools competing.

Senior Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ont.) led the Nittany Lions throughout the tournament. She shot seven-over 79 in the second round, giving her a final score of 12-over 156 and earning her a tied 13 th place individually. Paik was also one of four athletes to shot six birdies in two-round tournament.

Several Nittany Lions made improvements from their first round, including Christin Pacacha (Williamsport, Pa.) and Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.), who finished tied in 38th place. Pacacha improved by seven shots and Murphy improved by nine, giving them both a final score of 19-over 163.

Western Michigan finished in first place over all with a score of 41-over 617. Methodist finished only two strokes behind. Western Michigan's Laura Bavaird remained in first place from round one to finish the tournament with a score of two-over 146.

The Nittany Lions will next be competing in the Indiana Invitational on April 9-10 with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
