Women's Golf Concludes Longhorn Invitational in 14th Place
AUSTIN, Texas; March 18, 2007 - The Nittany Lions finished the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in 14th place after finishing with a total score 971. Senior Evelyn Paik (Toronto, Ont.) improved her score to lead the Nittany Lions and finish in tied in 31st place. Paik shot eight-over 80 in the third round, giving her a total score of 237. Junior Sara Lester (Walnut Creek, Calif.) finished the tournament only four strokes behind with a three-round score of 241. Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) improved her score and shot eight-over eighty in the third round. Murphy and Paik shared the lowest score of the team for the final round. Texas fell from its first place spot from the first two rounds to finish in fifth place. Purdue finished in first place with a total score of 907. TCU finished in second place with a score of 918. Purdue's Maria Hernandez shot one-over 217 and finished in first place individually. The women's golf team will next compete in the William and Mary Invitational on March 24.
