Salinas, Calif., March 7, 2002 ¡ªThe Penn State women¡¯s golf team finished 11th overall at the 16-team Spartan Invitational following a third-round score of 307 on Monday afternoon at the Corral de Tierra Country Club.
The Nittany Lions finished with an overall total of 929 (302-320-307) during the 54-hole event. Katie Futcher (The Woodlands, Texas) shot a 220 (73-78-69) following a round of 69 Monday to tie for seventh place.
California captured the team title with a score of 886 (289-300-297). Pepperdine and Washington tied for second at 887.
South Carolina¡¯s Kristy McPherson captured the individual crown with a 54-hole total of 211 (71-69-71).
The Penn State women¡¯s golf team returns to action on Mon.-Tues., March 25-26 when it travels to Wallace, N.C., for the Lady Seahawk Invitational.
