UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa; March 3, 2007 - The Nittany Lions will compete in their first spring tournament this weekend. Hosted by the College of Charleston, the Pinehurst Challenge will begin on Monday, March 5 and conclude on Tuesday, March 6.

Monday will consist of 36 holes and Tuesday will consist of 18 holes at the 5,978 yard, par 72 course. Both will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Penn State is the only Big Ten school of the 17 participating teams, which includes Maryland, N.C. State, Oregon, Princeton, and Richmond, among others.

Maggie Lester, Evelyn Paik, Christin Pacacha, Megan Padua, and Sara Lester will all be competing in the tournament. The team had an impressive fall season, including a first place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Senior Paik finished first overall in the tournament, which was hosted by Penn State.

Results of the tournament will be posted on www.cofcsports.com on Monday and Tuesday evening.
