Women's Golf Takes 10th Place at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Penn State women's golf team finished the Lady Buckeye Invitational, hosted by Ohio State, in 10th place out of 11 teams. The team carded a 100-over-par 964 (324-329-311) in the play-six, count-four tournament on The Ohio State University Golf Club's 6,268-yard, par-72 Scarlet Course. The Nittany Lions posted their best round of the tournament on the final day with a 311, which tied for the sixth-best third-round score of any team.
After withdrawing from the first two rounds, sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) played the final round and carded a team-best round for the tournament with a 73. She recorded two birdies. Junior Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) birdied the par-5 fourth hole and finished in a tie for 21st place with an 18-over-par 234 (77-78-79). Classmate Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.) tied for 48th place after she registered a 29-over-par 245 (83-80-82).
Freshmen Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) and Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) finished one stroke apart. Elliott tallied a 248 (83-87-78) to finish in a tie for 52nd place, while Archambault posted a 249 (83-84-82) and tied for 56th place. Classmate Erin Michel rounded out the Penn State field with a 251 (81-89-81) through three rounds to tie for 58th place.
Ohio State held the lead through the final round to win its home tournament with a 30-over-par 894 (308-297-289). Buckeye Rachel Rohanna earned the individual victory going 4-under for the tournament with a 212 (75-69-68).
The Nittany Lions will continue at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind. The three-day tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday (April 27).
