UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. November 19, 2004 - Penn State was well-represented on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association/STX All-Mideast Region squads, as Bekah Hostetler (Hershey, Pa.), Michele Rigby (Dover, Del.) and Amanda Eckert (Lititz, Pa.) were named to the first-team and Sara Cahill (Virginia Beach, Va.) was selected to the second team.

Rigby led the Nittany Lion scoring attack this year with 11 goals despite playing most of her minutes in the midfield position. She added two assists for a team-high 24 points. Eckert, another talented Penn State midfielder, tallied one assist on the year and contributed both on the defense as well as on the transition attack. Eckert was also named to the first-team all-Big Ten team.

Hostetler, also a first-team all-Big Ten honoree, tallied one assist on the year as she helped Penn State anchor its vaunted defense. Cahill, a defender, led the Nittany Lions to the No. 2 ranking in the Big Ten in goals allowed per game with just 26 over the 20-game season. She was also named to the All-Big Ten team.

There are five regions, including the Mideast region that honor players with postseason awards. Those other regions include the South, West, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast.
