STATE COLLEGE, Pa., November 19, 2001 - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced today that senior Kiley Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and junior Jill Martz (Dalmatia, Pa./Line Mountain) were both named STX/NFHCA Division I first team All-Americans, while junior Timarie Legel (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) was selected second team. At least one Nittany Lion has received first team All-American honors in the last 17 years. Kulina adds first team All-American accolades to her already long lost of postseason honors. A unanimous pick for Big Ten Athlete of the Year, she led Penn State in scoring with 31 points on 13 goals and five assists. Named first team All-Big Ten for the second-straight year, Kulina was third in the conference in scoring and fourth in goals, while leading the Big Ten in shots. Also named first team All-Mideast Region for the third time in her career, she was picked Big Ten Player of the Week three times this year and was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament team. Martz also received a number of postseason accolades during this postseason. She garners first team All-American honors for the second time in her career. Picked the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year, Martz was a key member of the penalty corner unit, leading the Big Ten with five assists in conference games and was eighth in all games. Martz was also named to the All-Mideast regional squad last week. Legel earns All-American honors for the first time in her career, as she was named to the third team. The team leader in goals at 14, she earned All-Big Ten (second team) and All-Mideast Regional honors for the first time in her career. She ranks fifth in the Big Ten in scoring with 29 points and third in goals scored. The Nittany Lions were 12-7 overall and tied for fourth in the Big Ten with a 3-3 record. --LIONS--
