Six Field Hockey Players Receive Regional Recognition
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., November 13, 2001 - Six Nittany Lion field hockey players were named to the STX/NFHCA Division I Mideast Regional All-America Team which was announced recently by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Five of the six players were selected to the first team.
Big Ten Player of the Year Kiley Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) earns first team all-regional honors for the third time in her career while Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Jill Martz (Dalmatia, Pa./Line Mountain) earns first team recognition for the second-straight year. Junior Timarie Legel (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), sophomore Neilye Stoner (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) and junior goalkeeper Annie Zinkavich (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) were also selected first team Mideast Regional All-America. Legel and Stoner have each garnered postseason honors already, as Legel was named second team All-Big Ten while Stoner was a first team honoree. Senior co-captain Meredith Shulzitski (Harleysville, Pa,/Souderton) was honored as a second-team selection. The Nittany Lions ended the season 12-7 overall and tied for fourth in the Big Ten with a 3-3 record.
