2003 All-Big Ten Field Hockey Teams Announced
State College, Pa.: For the seventh consecutive season, the Penn State Field Hockey team has seen four or more of its players win All-Big Ten honors. Seniors Heather Conroy (Duncannon, Pa.), Neilye Stoner (Manheim, Pa.) and Timarie Legel (Morgantown, Pa.) were First-Team selections, while junior Amanda Eckert was named to the Second Team.
With Neilye Stoner's fourth consecutive All-Big Ten selection, she becomes the first player in school history to accomplish the feat. In 2000 and 2002, she was named to the Second Team, and in 2001 and 2003, she was a First Team selection. This season, Stoner has posted a career-high eight assists, good for second on the team, established new career-highs with her 14 points and 33 shots taken and functioned as the team's co-captain. Senior Heather Conroy, a First Team selection from a year ago, nabs her second such honor this season. Following a 2002 season that saw 21 goals and eight assists, Conroy has posted 12 goals and three assists thus far in 2003. Senior Timarie Legel was named to the All-Big Ten Team for the third time in her four-year career. Legel leads Penn State in goals (14), assists (11), points (39) and shots (103), with the latter three also establishing new career-highs. Her 103 shots was tops in the Big Ten for the regular season, and she ranked sixth in the conference in goals, third in points and first in assists. Junior Amanda Eckert has also established a set of new career-highs in 2003 and receives the first All-Big Ten Selection of her career. This season, Eckert has seven goals, two assists, 16 points and has taken 35 shots, all of which set new career-highs. All-Big Ten First Team Second Team
